ECO TOURISM IN THE VILLAGE OF KOSOVO - BULGARIA

In December 2005 the biggest and most beautiful house in the village of Kosovo has opened doors for visitors. The house is built in 1853 by master Hadzi George Stanchovski and it is cultural monument. The stone walls, chimneys, ceilings, tiles and other details are preserved or restored from the original models. The view from the house towards the other quarters of the village is impressive.

The house is two-stored and has 18 beds placed in 6 double and 2 triple rooms. Each of the rooms has specially designed for it massive wooden furniture, satellite TV and luxuriously equipped bathroom with shower. On the upper floor there is fireplace with places for sitting. The renaissance atmosphere is revived with typical elements from the Rodopean region such as: picturesque wood-carved ceilings, oak floors, inbuilt closets, old couches, hand-made blankets and rugs. The heating and hot water are central. The house is categorized with 3 stars – the highest categorization for guest houses in Bulgaria.

In the same yard the place that was once barn is now reconstructed and is functioning as a traditional Bulgarian restaurant. Some of the dishes can be prepared into the fireplace. The vast hall of the restaurant can gather around 40 people and is suitable for celebrations, meetings and seminars. On the same level as the restaurant there is a veranda with beautiful view. The menu of the restaurant offers the best of the Rodopean traditional dishes and the bar offers selected wines and other drinks.
